MY SAFE FLORIDA CONDO PILOT PROGRAM

A stronger building.
A lighter financial burden.

Before your association funds its next hurricane-protection project, explore whether state support could help cover eligible costs.

A free starting point

An eligible association can receive a program-paid wind-mitigation inspection to identify improvements and possible insurance credits.

Protection that matters

Recommended upgrades can strengthen your building’s roof and openings against hurricane winds.

Potential insurance savings

Qualifying mitigation work may reduce wind-insurance premiums. Your insurer determines the applicable credit.

HOW THE STATE MATCH WORKS

$2 from the state.
$1 from your association.

The maximum state award is $175,000 per association across eligible projects.

Plan for upfront payment. The association pays for approved work first, then requests reimbursement.

ILLUSTRATIVE FUNDING EXAMPLE

Approved eligible project $90,000

State reimbursement$60,000
Net association share$30,000

The association initially pays the full $90,000. This example assumes all costs are eligible and every program condition is met. It is not a quote or an award determination.

Roof protection

Roof covering, roof-to-wall connections, deck attachments, and secondary water resistance.

Opening protection

Eligible windows, exterior doors, garage doors, and skylights recommended by the inspection.

The inspection report and state approval determine eligible work. Grant improvements must satisfy the program’s insurance-credit requirements. Florida Statute 215.55871

WHY START THE CONVERSATION NOW

Before the next roof project.
Before the next board vote.

A little preparation now can help your association make its next construction decision with a clearer picture of the grant opportunity.

Funding has limits

The pilot relies on legislative funding. Once appropriations are fully committed, the law restricts further grant intake. Future funding is not guaranteed.

Your board needs lead time

Gather records, coordinate votes, and arrange the program inspection. Put a preliminary review on the agenda before choosing a construction start date.

Approval comes before work

Starting construction before the grant is approved makes that work ineligible. Begin planning early so the project follows the required sequence.

FROM ELIGIBILITY TO REIMBURSEMENT

The right steps.
In the right order.

Our team helps organize the process. Florida’s Department of Financial Services decides inspection eligibility, grant approval, and payment.

01

Prepare & apply

Confirm the building profile, required association approvals, and documents. Request the state’s initial inspection.

02

Inspect & seek approval

The program assigns its inspector. Use the report to apply for the grant and wait for approval before construction.

03

Complete approved work

Use qualified, licensed contractors and required permits. The association pays for the improvements.

04

Inspect & reimburse

Complete the final inspection, insurance-credit review, and reimbursement paperwork for the state’s decision.

Current inspection and grant applications are handled by email through the state program. Official application instructions
